From Our Residents and Families

At Kindred Healthcare, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. Great Stories are Waiting to be Told…

Rosemarie was admitted to River Terrace in February 2007 with many complex medical issues including a stage IV pressure ulcer, neuropathic pain in both lower extremities and respiratory problems, which required the use of oxygen. She could not sit up, stand or eat on her own.

During the first few days at the facility, physical and occupational therapists assessed her. Together, Rosemarie and the therapists established healthcare goals and developed a plan for reaching them.

After working closely with Rosemarie and her daughter, the staff, along with the doctor, was able to control her neuropathy pain. This alone was enough for her to be able to work more with rehab and achieve her goals. In addition, although it took months of diligence, her stage IV pressure ulcer has healed without any complications.

She can now stand with the use of a walker and no longer requires the use of oxygen. Rosemarie has gotten back to enjoying the things she used to cherish in life – outings with her daughter and Red Sox games. Good work, Rosemarie!
